Torsion springs

The following must be known for the calculation of torsion springs:

• The desired torque (=force x arm) ( M).
• The diameter of the spring is often related to the installation options. The centre of the middle line is used for the spring calculation ( Dm ).
• The swing angle of the spring expressed in degrees (α ).

The spring constant ( c ) is the moment per degree swing angle.
